I was raised in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. As a child, I often struggled to sit still in class, and schoolwork was usually a bore. Everything quickly changed when I discovered the band program in my city, particularly percussion. This newfound outlet gave me a sense of purpose, passion, and drive. I pursued my love for music by earning a bachelor’s degree in music education from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where I was introduced to a variety of new sounds, instruments, and musical ideals. Today, I have the privilege of sharing my love for music as a band director, teaching students from 6th through 12th grade.

 

The inspiration for this project came during the 2020 lockdown. In those challenging times, I sought a way to connect with others and share the joy of percussion and music. My goal was to create an outlet that would bridge the gap between the scholarly musician and the common listener, making the beauty of percussion accessible to all.

 

Through my books, compositions, and performances, I hope to inspire and delight children and adults alike, fostering a love for music that lasts a lifetime. Thank you for joining me on this journey. From my drum to yours, let's create beautiful rhythms together.
